Bather: Where were these pics taken? Area names?
B: How did you get to Nicaragua? How was it getting there?
M: The trip down is fairly painless from Toronto. There are some direct flights but most require that you transfer in places like Miami, Houston, Mexico City, or San Salvador. All in, about 7 hours of flying.
B: What tourist activities and local attractions, like restaurants and shopping areas, do you recommend?
M: Volcano boarding outside of Leon is a big attraction. My personal favorite is renting motorbikes and exploring the volcanic island of Ometepe. Don't forget surfing!
B: Must see/do?
M: Sunset at Playa Maderas, Catamaran tours along the pacific shoreline, Motorbiking on Ometepe, Volcano Boarding
But if you prefer to stay in the local areas, you can spend hours exploring and admiring the architecture, connecting with the locals, and enjoying fresh fruit and authentic Nicaraguan cuisine like gallo pinto or tostones.
B: Where did you stay?
M: There are tons of accommodation options depending on your budget. I personally love staying at Maderas Village when I'm around San Juan del Sur. It's like a boutique hostel for adults. All the comforts of a hotel, but with all the social elements of a backpackers hostel — a great place to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.
B: 5 adjectives to describe your trip?
M: Relaxing, Fun, Cultural, Adventurous, and Fulfilling.
