The Look-back Lookbook

August 21, 2017 — Today is World Fashion Day, and what better way to celebrate than to look back to where we started. Since launching Bather in 2013, we have had good times creating and sharing new designs and introducing the fashion industry to our brand and ethos — make a functional, locally-made product at a fair price. It's been fun so far and we're even more excited to share with you the great products and projects to come.

SS13 — Our first collection was launched in Spring/Summer 2013 featuring a collection of surf trunks that focused on a few classic graphics.

Bather SS15 Orange Swim Trunk

SS14 — 2014 we focused on more technical elements by sourcing quick-drying nylons and working with sportswear specialists to create a product that looks great but also keeps you dry and comfortable. New to this season, Bather has introduced reinforced grommets to hold up against tough surf conditions as well as a specialized dying process that can withstand sun and salt. This SS14 Surf Collection added five new patterns and three new solids available in the Bather exclusive quick-dry nylon. The patterns range from Florals to Nautical Flags to an Acid-washed Aztec print and include new functional solids that can double as swim trunks or everyday shorts.

Bather Resort 2014 - Men's Bathing Suits for Surf and Swim

Resort 2014 — Continuing the tradition of clean design and a focus on quality, the Resort Collection added a new component to the Bather lineup — the Swim Trunk. The classic Swim Trunk features an elasticized waist, side pockets, back pocket with snap enclosure, waxed cotton drawstring, and a superfine nylon stretch mesh lining. The outer shell is 100% quick-dry nylon. Slightly shorter than Bather’s signature Surf Trunk, the Swim Trunk feature a 5.5 inch inseam.

Bather SS15 Blue Hat and Swimsuit

SS15 —  Clean and understated design with a focus on quality, this season’s Surf Collection takes inspiration from Japanese fabrics and motifs. New solids take on a primary color palette while new patterns take influence from Japanese motifs such as the classical Asanoha (Yellow Dot Star Swim) and Seigaiha (Blue and Green Dot Wave Surf) designs. Recognizable for the geometric qualities and toned down colorways, these Japanese designs fit perfectly with the understated design approach that has come to define the Bather ethos. New to this season, Bather has introduced a collection of headwear to compliment new patterns and colorways available in the Surf Collection.

New designs feature patterns and textures such as the Indigo Blue Flower and Red Explosion, both inspired by classic Japanese motifs. Other designs include The Broken Stripe and Broken Line. Both designs are hand-drawn and available in various colorways. All designs are available in either the classic Swim Trunk or the tailored Surf Trunk.

Bather Resort 2016 Men's Blue Swim Shorts

Resort 2016 — The 2016 Resort Collection focuses on tropical patterns and motifs. New designs feature hand-painted Monstera leaves, Saguaro Cacti and Palm Trees just to name a few. All designs were hand painted at Bather’s Toronto studio using watercolor paints to create unique texture-based designs. The collection features 4 new designs available each in two color options.

Bather SS17 - Men's Swim Shorts

SS17 (Today) — Fast forward to today with our SS17 collection which introduced 24 new designs. The monochromatic approach to design and darker color palette made this year's collection perfect for the beach and the streets, contrasted against a bright, sunny day!
