Design Intern

Location: Toronto, ON
Dates for Internship: Anytime between now and August 2020
General Hours of Work: Part-Time, minimum 14 hours per week
Paid / Honorarium / Unpaid: Monthly honorarium


Bather is looking for a Design Intern to assist the Bather team with pattern design, graphic design, and other design and branding projects. The successful candidate is a passionate and energetic individual who is a good team player. The individual should have a strong interest in fashion and/or graphic design and illustration. The candidate must also be looking to fulfill internship hours as a requirement for their post-secondary program. 


  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Interest in/commitment to the fashion industry
  • Able to work independently and take initiative while also being an effective team player
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud, especially Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Proven attention to detail
  • An optimistic attitude
  • A strong interest in arts/graphic design/fashion/business affairs
  • A fashion/design/arts background; either through work, school, and/or volunteer opportunities
  • Some experience with fabric/pattern/textile design


  • Reporting to the Owner of Bather
  • Conducting fashion design and industry research
  • Trend forecasting and creating moodboards
  • Textile design
  • Editing and fine-tuning digital designs and patterns
  • Building and organizing line sheets and catalogues
  • Assisting with events like pop-up shops and photo shoots

    Learning Experiences Provided

    • Onboarding of new interns will include an introduction to the brand 
    • An inside look into Toronto's fashion industry, especially menswear and swimwear
    • Understand R&D, design and production processes
    • Apparel business operations and how to forecast future production runs
    • Analyze POs to make final design decisions
    • Will be able to observe and contribute to team meetings
